On a Dell Dimension 8200 P4 1.8Ghz 2GB RAM with Windows XP PRO SP3 … Last version that will install and run is Java 8 Update 151 … Java 8 Update 161 and later the installer attempts to run, but closes without installing the program. I am sure the installer could be fixed to work with XP, but I do not know what tools or program to use to modify the .exe file so XP is accepted.
